NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 23, 2016) – The Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS® celebrated the completion of its 20th home build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville May 20. The recipient of this year’s build by the association is Cindy Bryant.
Bryant grew up in Franklin, TN, and first learned about Habitat when volunteering on a build with her church. She is a mom and operates her own gift-delivery business. Bryant sought a secure home and a future for her and her son, and knew she could find that in homeownership.
“GNAR is an advocate for promoting and providing homeownership opportunities to all who are able and desire to be a homeowner,” said GNAR President Denise Creswell. “Habitat homeowners work just as hard, and maybe harder, to be eligible for a Habitat home and the subsequent mortgage as consumers with conventional loans. It’s an honor to support these families on their homeownership path.”
This home marks the association’s 20th build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. Affordable housing is a priority for GNAR, who is also deeply engaged in the current conversation about creating more affordable units within Nashville.
“Our long relationship with Habitat for Humanity is something we are very proud of as an association,” said Creswell. “Being a part of a home build is a tangible and hands-on way for our members to go beyond conversations about homeownership and become a part of creating it. Member involvement with our annual build for Habitat is high. This build we had more volunteers for shifts than we had shifts to build on. That’s a good problem to have.”
“GNAR is a more than a home sponsor, they are a true friend to the Habitat for Humanity organization,” said Habitat of Greater Nashville President and CEO Danny Herron. “Their members consistently stay involved with us, working on other builds and serving on our board. We look forward to 20 more years of putting families and homes together.”
